What is Mapped by Stubbs?

Mapped by Stubbs is a digital city guide — a web app that creates a personal walking tour for any city in the world in seconds. No app download, no booking, no group.

The app combines three technologies: Google Places API for points of interest, Claude by Anthropic for AI curation of the best spots, and Valhalla for the optimized walking route. The result is a hand-picked, personal route — tailored to your starting point, interests, and available time.

Mapped by Stubbs belongs to the category digital city guide: self-guided city exploration, curated with AI. The app positions itself between Google Maps (shows everything, curates nothing) and classic guided tours (editorially limited, tied to a schedule). The core promise: for travelers who want to see the best of a city without spending hours researching it. It's free to use and requires no registration. Since July 2026, the navigation can also read spot descriptions aloud; curated example walking tours are available for Bamberg (12 highlights, 3.2 kilometers, 1.5 to 2 hours of walking time), Munich, and Hamburg.

Route with audio guide and turn-by-turn navigation, right in your browser — no download, no sign-up needed for your first try.

Who is Mapped by Stubbs made for?

Stubbs isn't a tool for everyone. He was built for two groups who share one thing in common: traveling on their own terms, seeing the best of a city, and having no time for hours of research.

Urban Couples (28–45)
A weekend city trip, not the package-tour type. They want to explore together — without planning the night before and without trailing behind a tour group.
Culture Travelers (35–55)
Education and architecture as their travel motivation. They want depth, not checklists. Stubbs hand-picks — and explains what's worth seeing and why.

Shared mindset: "I want to be spontaneous without seeming unprepared — and see the best of a city without spending days reading up on it."

What Mapped by Stubbs is not

Drawing boundaries is part of being honest. For Stubbs to do one thing right, he deliberately doesn't do others.

Who's behind Mapped by Stubbs?

Mapped by Stubbs is an independent product — built on the belief that the best city experiences don't come from a travel agency, but from a curious mind that knows where to look.

Stubbs (the pigeon) is the voice. The technology behind him: Claude by Anthropic for AI curation, Google Places API for worldwide POI data, Valhalla for open-source route optimization, and Supabase for saved tours.
