In 3 steps

How it works

Enter a city and about 30 seconds later your loop is ready. Then Stubbs walks with you, and you decide along the way how much guiding you want.

Step 1 · Plan

Say where

Enter a city and pick a starting point: the city centre, an address such as the station, or your location. If your start is far out, the loop begins at a car park.

  • Any city, small ones too
  • Pick any length
  • Starts at a car park if it’s far

Step 2 · Fly it

Fly it first,
then tweak it

Stubbs flies your loop in 3D, and at every stop you decide whether it stays. Too long, missing a restaurant, rather the other way round? Tell Stubbs, with a tap or in your own words. Then send the loop to your friends on WhatsApp.

  • Breaks: café, restaurant or bar, whenever you like
  • Add your own spots

Step 3 · Go

Guided, and still free

Stubbs takes you to the first stops and announces the turns, in the Android app even with your phone in your pocket. Like a neighbourhood? Tap “On my own” and keep walking without directions. When you’re done, “Back to start” takes you back to the car.

  • On my own, your route keeps recording
  • Change plans on the way: shorten, break, add a spot
  • One tap back to the start

Every spot has its place

Sorted before you set off

Stubbs groups everything into clear categories. On the map, every symbol shows you what's waiting.

Castle Church Museum Park Viewpoint
  • Highlights The best of the city

The must-see sights: everything you need to have seen.

  • Recommendations Worth the detour

Spots with character that we love to include. Great, but never overrun.

  • Insider tips What locals love

Hidden spots off the tourist trail, dug up by Stubbs.

  • Cafés, restaurants & bars New: bars

Coffee halfway, a beer at the end: you say when, Stubbs finds the place along the way. Two alternatives always come with it.

  • Beyond the City Get out of town

Worthwhile day-trip destinations outside the core route, best by bike.

Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO KNOW?

What is an AI city guide?

An AI city guide is an app that uses artificial intelligence to create personal walking tours on demand. No booking, no group, no fixed departure time. Unlike classic guidebooks or booking platforms, an AI city guide curates a city's highlights individually for each user: tailored to starting point, interests, and available time.

Stubbs is an AI city guide that combines open place data such as OpenStreetMap with AI for choosing the spots and pedestrian routing for route optimization. The result is a hand-picked walking tour for any city in the world, in seconds.

Which cities does Stubbs work for?

Stubbs works for any city in the world, from Bamberg to Buenos Aires. The app generates tours on demand from place data available worldwide, mainly from open sources such as OpenStreetMap. There's no editorial team unlocking cities one by one: if a city is on the map, Stubbs knows it too.

How is Stubbs different from GetYourGuide or TripAdvisor?

GetYourGuide and TripAdvisor are booking marketplaces: you book a tour there with a fixed time, meeting point, and travel group. Stubbs is the opposite: no booking, no group, no departure time. You start whenever you want, go at your own pace, and adjust the route on the go. Stubbs doesn't earn commissions on recommendations. Curation is based on quality alone.

Do I need to download the app?

Not for planning. Enter a city, adjust the spots, watch the loop in the 3D flyover: all of that runs entirely in your browser, on iPhone, Android and desktop, without an account. On iPhone and on a computer you can navigate in the browser too. On Android, navigation moves to the free app, which keeps guiding you even with the screen off. An iPhone app is in the works.

Is Stubbs free?

Yes. For comparison: a classic guided walking tour usually costs 15–20 € per person. Stubbs guides you for free. The tour preview with all highlights and the full route is available without registration; a free account is required to save tours.

Can I see the route before I go?

Yes, even in 3D. As soon as your tour is ready, Stubbs flies the whole loop over a 3D model of the city and stops at every spot, with photos, opening hours and ratings. There you decide what stays in, and the route is recalculated afterwards. Free and in the browser. How the 3D flyover works

Can I plan breaks into the tour?

Yes. Once the tour is planned, Stubbs asks whether you want to stop along the way: café, restaurant or bar, and for each, when: at the start, in the middle or at the end of the loop. The place goes where it costs the shortest detour, and in the 3D flyover you swipe between three places of the same kind. Stubbs does not suggest chains. Where Stubbs stops in 21 cities
